Dune Awakening will feature a building mechanic, with players being able to build their own bases for shelter, crafting and refining resources. [1]

Basics

Building will be a big part of Dune: Awakening for both small and big groups, as it allows you to craft things otherwise inaccessible. [2]
Your base will be a place to socialize and rest while not in the deep desert, useful to stockpile your gear and craft new one. It allows for storage and collecting water in dew collectors. [3]
Bases can be built (probably) almost anywhere, but pre-set landmarks are a no-build zone, and bases outside Shield Wall will be procedurally wiped with the coming of Coriolis storm every week. [4] [5]

Base Size and Location

Bases will be an important part of your life on Arrakis, and as such they will grow both in size and majesty, as such they will become more visible, harder to maintain, but also more majestic and packed with utilites. A big part of base maintanence will be the need to pay Imperial Taxes, which will become gradually more expensive as your base rises in size. [6] Bases will also need to be shielded to prevent Coriolis damage and help against raids. (Note: Raids are not the primary focus of this game)[7] [2]
There doesn't seem to be a limit for base size at the moment. [6] [1][3]

Building types

There seems to be a typical building style similar to games like ARK, with Foundations, Walls, Crafting stations and similar. Decorations are also implemented. [1] Bases will need electricity to run, Solar panels and Wind Turbines seem to be the main source of electricity. Dew collectors for aquiring water "AFK" will be a vital part of industrial crafting also. [1][8]

Styles

It has been hinted that buildings can be build in different styles. [1] Although not much has been specified yet.

Notes from Admin

This page needs expansion. Listed below are a few useful resources to help getting started! Possible areas to consider include:

- What are the limits of building (how many 'blocks' high/wide? building into terrain?)
- What type of building blocks are available (foundations, walls, doors etc)
- What kinds of machinery/industry equipment are available (fabricators, solar panels, wind turbines)
- What kinds of decor is available? (banners, vases, tables, plants)
- What kinds of base defense systems are there? (shields, turrets, gates, doors)

The Community short is a great source - https://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=7rnoY3Uyno8 Don't be afraid to make mistakes - pretty much everything shown is not given a name or pointed out explicitly, take screenshots, point things out and give them a name. All of this can be debated and we can come to a community consensus - remember this is Beta information, it doesn't matter if we get it wrong as it's subject to change anyway! Sourcing from what the CM's and Devs have said in the discord chat can be useful - but it's not gospel. Here's an example of what the short revealed:
