Purpose / Ethos

There is no call we do not answer

There is no faith that we betray

House Orethion is currently a small and slowly growing, ambitious guild aligned with House Atreides, that strives to embody its core values: Honor, Loyalty, and Dedication. We are looking forward to experiencing the entirety of PvE and PvP content that Dune: Awakens has to offer as a group, although we definitely aren't hardcore PvPers. Our guild hierarchy and structure makes us open to a variety of playstyles, as such we do not need only soldiers, but also scouts, traders, architects, and even diplomats. With our lore background, we are also open to a bit of light RP, although it's purely optional.

We are PC players on the Atreides side, residing primarily in EU timezones, but also welcoming members from NA region, and communicating primarily in English.

Hierarchy

ADMINISTRATION

House leaders, members of the council and the court advisors.

  • V Count: The ruler of House Orethion, and the head of the council. Current Count of House Orethion is Calaeus (Cassius Orethion)
  • IV Na-familia: The members of the Orethion family and noble members of the court which can, but not always do, hold any important positions in the council or otherwise.
  • IV Council: The governing body of House Orethion is comprised of up to five members, which collectively decide on the new edicts and matters of the House through voting.
    • IV Ambassador: The diplomat in charge of communications with other Houses, as well as forging new alliances.
      • The seat of the Ambassador is currently held by Calaeus (Cassius Orethion)
    • IV Warmaster: The general in charge of the military and security, managing both ground and air forces through Swordmaster and Air Marshal.
      • The seat of Warmaster is currently held by incepticninja (Heir, Archidamos Orethion)
    • IV Master of Assassins: The head of House intelligence in charge of intel gathering, counter-intelligence and espionage.
      • The seat of Master of Assassins is currently empty.
    • IV Quartermaster: The head of logistics in charge of resource management, spice extraction, trade, and architecture.
      • The seat of Quartermaster is currently held by Eele [Eelevra Orethion].
  • III Seneschal: A single member appointed by the Council to oversee the human resources of the House Orethion as a whole.

COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION

Diplomats appointed by the Ambassador.

  • III Consul: Right hand of the Ambassador, sometimes working in his stead.
  • I Envoy: Messenger that carries the words and will of the council.

MILITARY DIVISION

  • III Swordmaster: Commander and trainer of the ground forces, in charge of managing the officers and their squads.
    • The function and title of Swordmaster is currently held by ward6107 (Jason Argealon)
  • III Air Marshal: Commander and trainer of the air forces, in charge of managing the wing officers and their squadrons.
    • The function and title of Air Marshal is not currently held by anyone.
  • II Captain: Leader of a squad of ground troops or an air force squadron. Responds directly to either Swordmaster or an Air Marshal.
  • I Soldier: Regular soldier responding directly to Captain of his squad.

INTELLIGENCE DIVISION

  • III Sector Chief: Commander and trainer of the intelligence field officers. The function and title of Sector Chief is not currently held by anyone.
  • II Field Officer: Intelligence field officer in charge of several scouts. Responds directly to Sector Chief.
  • I Ranger: Field agent specialized in mild combat support for the military squads, with primary function of monitoring & reporting the enemy activity and engaging with enemy from afar. Responds directly to his Field Officer.
  • I Scout: Intel gathering field agent responding directly to his Field Officer.

LOGISTIC DIVISION

Logistics workers appointed by the Quartermaster.

  • III Logistics Supervisor: Specialist in multiple fields, overseeing and managing the logistics work as a Quartermaster's right hand and advisor.
  • I / II Architect: Responsible for the design of House Orethion structures.
  • I / II Trade broker: Responsible for trading goods with other Houses and organizations.
  • I / II Engineer: Responsible for maintaining the machinery, tools & vehicles.
  • I / II Logistics Officer: Responsible for variety of tasks, such as gathering resources, and transport.

  House Orethion, tracing its lineage back to Orestes, the mythological King of Sparta, was forged in the fires of ancient conflict. Orestes, famed for avenging the murder of his father, King Agamemnon, became a symbol of justice, duty, and martial excellence. These values were carried forward by his descendants, who, in the far future, would found House Orethion, named in honor of their legendary forebear.

  The early history of House Orethion was one of struggle and survival, as they carved out a place for themselves among the lesser houses of the Landsraad. Their fortunes changed dramatically during the Battle of Corrin, the decisive conflict that ended the Butlerian Jihad and gave birth to the Imperium as it would be known for millennia.

  House Orethion, at that time a relatively minor house, was among those who answered the call to arms against the Thinking Machines. Fighting alongside the forces of House Atreides, the Orethions distinguished themselves in battle, their warriors displaying the same ferocity and tactical brilliance that had characterized their Spartan ancestors.

  In the final days of the battle, when the forces of humanity converged on the planet Corrin to defeat the last remnants of the Thinking Machines, House Orethion’s warriors played a crucial role in breaching the enemy's defenses. Fighting shoulder to shoulder with House Atreides, the Orethions helped to secure victory, earning them a place of honor among the great houses of the Imperium. Their valor on the battlefield did not go unnoticed, and the bond between House Orethion and House Atreides was forged in the crucible of war.

  Following the Battle of Corrin, House Orethion was elevated in status, granted lands on the verdant world of Caladan as a reward for their service. Here, they established themselves as loyal vassals to House Atreides, dedicating their lives to the defense and prosperity of their liege lord’s realm. The Orethions were entrusted with the protection of key military installations and agricultural holdings, their warriors becoming an integral part of the Atreides' forces.

  Under the guidance of Duke Atreides, House Orethion flourished. They honed their military skills, developing a reputation as elite fighters and brilliant tacticians. Their loyalty was absolute, and their close alliance with House Atreides ensured their continued prominence within the political and military hierarchy of Caladan. For generations, the Orethions served faithfully, their bonds with the Atreides growing ever stronger.

  When Duke Leto Atreides was granted stewardship of the desert planet Arrakis, House Orethion was among the first to pledge their support. The transition from the fertile lands of Caladan to the arid deserts of Arrakis was a daunting one, but the Orethions, true to their Spartan heritage, saw it as a challenge to be met with courage and determination.  

  On Arrakis, House Orethion quickly adapted to the new environment, their warriors becoming experts in desert warfare. They played a key role in protecting the spice production facilities, understanding the vital importance of melange to the Imperium. The Orethions were instrumental in securing the initial Atreides foothold on the planet, their warriors excelling in the harsh conditions of the desert.

Aenes Orethion: The Spartan Founder

Era: Pre-Battle of Corrin
Deeds: Aenes Orethion is celebrated as the founder of House Orethion. As a descendant of the mythic Orestes, Aenes was driven by the ideals of justice, duty, and martial prowess that defined his legendary ancestor. Under his leadership, House Orethion was established as a house dedicated to military excellence, with a code of honor reminiscent of ancient Sparta. Aenes forged crucial alliances and laid the foundation for the house’s future prominence. Leonis Orethion: The Hero of Corrin

Deeds: Leonis Orethion, a direct descendant of Aenes, was the commander of House Orethion’s forces during the legendary Battle of Corrin. His leadership during this critical conflict against the Thinking Machines was marked by extraordinary bravery and tactical brilliance. Leonis led a pivotal assault on the enemy's central command, a bold move that helped turn the tide in favor of the human forces. His actions during the battle earned him and House Orethion immense honor and solidified their close alliance with House Atreides. Leonis’s valor at Corrin was instrumental in securing the future of both his house and the nascent Imperium.

Callidora Orethion: The Diplomat-Warrior

Deeds: Callidora Orethion, the daughter of Leonis, was known for her dual talents as a diplomat and warrior. In the aftermath of the Battle of Corrin, as the Imperium began to take shape, Callidora played a crucial role in securing the political alliances that would ensure House Orethion’s continued influence. She negotiated several key treaties with neighboring houses, expanding Orethion’s lands and resources on Caladan. Despite her diplomatic skills, Callidora was also a formidable fighter, having trained under her father. Myrrine Orethion: The Shield of Caladan

Deeds: Myrrine Orethion, a descendant of Callidora, earned her title as the "Shield of Caladan" for her exceptional defense of the planet during a period of unrest and conflict. When House Atreides was threatened by rival houses seeking to undermine their rule on Caladan, Myrrine led the Orethion forces in a series of defensive campaigns that protected key Atreides strongholds. Her strategic brilliance and unyielding determination ensured that the Orethion territories remained secure, and her loyalty to House Atreides was beyond question. Myrrine’s actions during this period solidified the Orethion reputation for unwavering loyalty and military might, making them indispensable allies to House Atreides.
