Details

Governed by the Great Houses and influenced by the Emperor, CHOAM distributes shares and profits according to political power, binding economic control directly to imperial authority.

Arrakis remains under active imperial oversight, and CHOAM continues to regulate spice production and commercial exploitation, making it a central force in the ongoing struggle for dominance.

In Universe

In Dune, CHOAM is a massive galactic corporation that has a complete monopoly on all trade in the universe. All of the houses represented in the Landsraad are significant shareholders in CHOAM and their ownership share reflects their political influence. CHOAM is the source of the Emperor's power as he is the largest minority shareholder of the corporation and by extension the influence he holds over control of the management and organization of the corporation.

In Dune:Awakening

In Dune:Awakening CHOAM is presented as a neutral party in the War of Assassins between Atreides and Harkonnen. In game, they are represented as the default faction for the player before they align with a particular house. CHOAM colors are the default swatch for most vehicles, base refineries, storage units and fabricators.

As the galactic monopoly on trade and commerce, the neutral bank and market is represented by CHOAM exchange that can be accessed on both Arrakeen and Harko Village.
