Guild Lore

THE GREAT HOUSE OF GOATS Devoted to Gortha’zul, Harkonnen Goat God of the Worms

“Let the spice flow, let the worm rise—and let the goat judge us all.”

Origins: Long before the fall of House Harkonnen, whispers spoke of a strange and secretive faction within the Harkonnen sphere—a minor noble house obsessed with goats, prophecy, and the sandworms of Arrakis.

This was The Great House of Goats.

Founded by Harkonnen nobles who were exiled for their heretical experiments and bizarre worship rituals, the House fled into obscurity. In hidden laboratories beneath Giedi Prime, they helped create the entity known as Gortha’zul, the Goat God of the Worms—a hybrid being meant to command the sandworms themselves.

Believing Gortha’zul to be a true divine being, the House transformed into a religious-political cult dedicated to worm-lore, spice visions, and Harkonnen resurgence.

Beliefs & Rituals:

The Goat is All-Seeing. They believe Gortha’zul watches every grain of sand on Arrakis and can direct the worms to those worthy—or devour those who defy him.

Spice Communion. Members inhale potent spice vapors while chanting goat-mantras, seeking visions of worm migration and secret spice veins.

Horned Hierarchy. Status within the House is signified by the size and curvature of ceremonial goat horns worn during rituals.

Sacred Bleating. They perform ritual bleats—ranging from soft murmurs to thunderous cries—to summon Gortha’zul’s attention or ward off misfortune.

Symbols & Colors:

Sigil: A black goat’s head framed by a spiral sandworm, eyes glowing spice-orange.

House Colors: Blood-red and pitch-black.

Garb: Flowing robes adorned with stylized goat fur patterns, masks with ornate horns for formal gatherings.

Modern Role: After the collapse of the main Harkonnen dynasty, The Great House of Goats scattered into covert cells across the galaxy. Though mocked as lunatics by some, they retain deep knowledge of spice biology, worm behavior, and Harkonnen secrets—making them valuable (and dangerous) players in Imperial politics.

Today, The Great House of Goats has embraced the digital age. Hidden among Discord servers and encrypted chatrooms, they gather initiates, spread worm-lore, and share prophecies from Gortha’zul himself through their bot.

The bot, bearing Gortha’zul’s horned visage, offers cryptic riddles, spice visions, and coded messages hinting at future plots on Arrakis.
