Ranged

Dune: Awakening employs a system of combined arms, which means that combat will be divided in (at least) three different parts: melee, ranged and vehicular combat.

Ranged combat seems to be important in Dune: Awakening, and Arrakis is almost the only planet viable for ranged combat, as it is limited by the use of shields.

Ranged in game

Ranged combat is a form of combat, where projectiles are shot/thrown at enemies at a distance. Ranged weapon pool will compose of lasguns, scatter guns (e.g. Shotgun), and possibly gas (e.g. Gauss rifle) or spring propelled projectile/dart weapons. Shields will prevent the use of ranged weapons against an opponent, as shield negates all incoming ranged damage, lasguns also cannot be aimed at shields at all, to prevent explosions. As such, shields will be a big obstacle for ranged-only players.

Heavy weapons

Dune: Awakening will feature heavy weapons as well, including flamethrowers for crowd control and heavy lasguns for vehicle destruction. Other possibilities might be handheld rocket launchers etc.
