Testing Station 76 is a medium Eco Lab found in Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub, with standard eco lab loot. Originally this was a botanical testing station, with the purpose of exploring the viability of growing commercial important botanical species on Arrakis. The testing station has long since been abandoned by botanists, and is now home to Slavers, who have used it to develop Inkvine for whips and Krimskell for ropes.

Location

Slavers have built a small outpost around the entrance to the testing station, it can be accessed from the southeast.

Lore

Solido Projection

Upon entering the station, the solido projection of the old station leader plays the following message:

You've arrived at Botanical Testing Station number seventy-six.
I am station leader, Rymar Thuringer.
We at this station have been assigned the task of exploring the viability of numerous commercially important botanical species from across the imperium... Here. On Arrakis!
I knew this would be a difficult assignment, but it has proven all but impossible.
Face it, this planet is a far cry from Ecaz. Do they really expect to grow Fogwood, Elacca, or Sapho Root here?
Well, we may have more success with some of the species native to Giedi Prime.
Anything that can survive that hellish environment might have a chance on this one....

Recordings

Slaver overseers have left several recordings around the facility, documenting their cruel research into whips and ropes.

Tape 1

File:Testing Station 76 Tape 1.png
The first tape location

The first tape is found in one of the first overgrown halls, on a table.

A forceful blow from an inkvine lash marks the target with a permanent, beet-colored scar.
But that's just the start of it -- the inkvine scar never quite heals, nor does the intense pain, which can linger on for many years or even decades.
That's what makes the inkvine lash so feared.
The presence of an inkvine lash should be enough to break even the most stubborn captive.
Too many strokes will leave a victim crippled by pain, and of little value in the slave markets.

Tape 2

File:Testing Station 76 Tape 2.png
The second tape location

The second tape is deeper into the station, on a table.

ATTENTION ROPE MAKERS Do not use your fingers to extract fibers from the vines!
Krimskell fibers claw tighter as you pull. You will lose circulation, and FINGERS!
Fingerless workers have no value to our operation. USE THE TOOLS!

Tape 3

File:Testing Station 76 Tape 3.png
The third tape location

The third and final tape is over halfway through the station, on a bloody table with a wrapped body next to it.

Your insistence on testing the products was distasteful, but the captive's attempt to kill me certainly made it more bearable.
Despite his size, a single strand of krimskell rope was sufficient to completely restrain the subject.
The more he struggled, the tighter it became.
I can only assume from his howls of pain that the inkvine lash performed as intended.
As a further note, a strand of krimskell, placed around the throat, is an effective means of silencing a prisoner - any attempt at vigorous shouting causes the krimskell to draw tighter.
Be warned, this will almost certainly prove fatal if coupled with the agony of inkvine blows.
