Staff

The Dune Awakening Community Wiki is maintained entirely by fans of the game, who volunteer their time and skills. While Funcom actively support the wiki, it is still an independent community-driven project and the staff team have full autonomy over the destiny of the site.
Staff Ranks
Staff rank names are inspired by Dune lore, collectively known as 'The Archivist Guild', it consists of the Director, their close Lieutenants ('Hands') and the majority of staff specialised into two major groups:
- Archivists - People who are involved more on the technical side of the wiki - writing articles, reviewing mission submissions, seeking knowledge from the game etc.
- Emissaries - People who are involved more with the community side of the wiki - handling the discord server], social media/outreach, running events etc.
Both of these groups share an equal rank, and staff can choose to follow either speciality, switch at any time and collaborate where there is an urgent need. Within each group there are specialist roles around certain tasks. A staff member is free to choose any number of these specialist roles.
Leadership
The leader of the wiki staff is the Director of the Archive. This is FlamingMojo and serves as Head Admin, deciding the primary direction of the project, handling the website hosting, liaising with Funcom and other partners to ensure the wiki's success.
The Director has several close lieutenants, chosen for exemplary dedication to the project, to delegate the day-to-day management tasks to. These are known as the 'Hands of the Archive' and serve as second-in-command, with broad administrative powers over both the website and discord servers, plus other tools. The two Hands are Sorahawk and BradW, and are the primary point of escalation for Archivists and Emissaries respectively.
The leadership structure of the wiki is deliberately flat, and the leaders serve at the behest and with the mandate of the community - in accordance with the Rules. Nobody, not even the Director, is above the rules.
Archivists
The Archivists handle the more technical side of the wiki, and there are several specialist roles they may have:
- Truthsayers - Expert proofreaders and fact-checkers
- Imperial Chroniclers - Lore experts, chronicling the in-game story and lore
- Communinet Technicians - Covering all official communiqués from Funcom - Patch Notes, Communinet Signals, Developer Updates and Livestreams
- Ixian Artificers - Tinkerers of wiki formatting, templates, modules and raw game data extracts
- Mentat Inquisitors - Fact-finders and gatherers, going into the game to find and verify information
Emissaries
Emissaries are a newer staff group, and handle more of the community side of the wiki. Specialist roles include:
- Guild Ambassadors - Handling outreach, spreading the good word of the wiki and drawing attention to pages, events and the mission system
- Sardaukar Bashar - Specialising in moderation of the discord and wiki to keep the peace
- (Social Media) - (WIP) - Managing the wiki social media presence
- (Internal Community) - (WIP) - Managing internal community events, engagement and projects
Initiates
Community members who have shown they can be consistently active and display a willingness to help the project may be invited to the staff team. When there is a specific recruitment drive, the Director and Hands will provide methods of applying to become staff in the wiki discord.
All staff start as Initiates. Effectively this is a trial period of 2-4 weeks where cultural fit, consistency and reliability are evaluated. If successful, and with the consensus of the existing staff team, initiates are promoted to either Archivist or Emissary depending on their preference and skill set.
Staff Benefits
Being a member of The Archivist Guild is entirely voluntary and unpaid. However, it is not without rewards:
- All full staff immediately gain access to all wiki mission rewards such as the Atreides Battle Rifle, and automatically receive any new rewards added in future
- When FlamingMojo goes to conventions and receives physical merchandise/loot from Funcom, this is distributed amongst the staff after a raffle (shipped globally at no expense to the recipient) as a show of gratitude
- Hands of the Archive receive a free T-Shirt, embroidered with the wiki logo
- Funcom values the hard work of the wiki team, and is in close communication with senior leadership. Staff can often give and receive feedback about the game and upcoming changes
- Potential other staff holiday giveaways and more.
