BACKGROUND

Thorn (only name she uses, may actually be a sobriquet) is na-Familia of House Sionnach, a House Minor under the banner of the Ixian Confederacy. Thorn's mental acuity leaning towards Mentat training was discovered late, past the time usually considered for training on Lampadas. Shortly following that discovery, Thorn came to the attention of an exiled Bene Gesserit on Ix and the two trained together in secret. The discovery of this led to an ouster by her family, so she sought other ways to become useful and seek her own fortune. This led her to Arrakis, with the current War of Assassins providing many opportunities for knowledge, advancement and acquisition of skills she deems necessary to place her in another House.

House History: Originally under House Vernius before its fall from power, House Sionnach is aligned with the remnants. As the Ixian Confederacy owes allegiance to House Atreides, House Sionnach publicly follows suit, although there are rumors that the House specializes in spycraft and brokers data to whomever can field enough CHOAM interest contracts to attract their attention. Publicly the House disdains House Harkonnen, but there are rumored to be ex-pats. Intrigue, data, hard to find items and the occasional vanishing of troublesome pests are the watchwords of this House with a reputation for loyalty and a code of honor they keep to themselves. Rumors naturally follow, as with any other in the Confederacy, that House members skirt the Butlerian prohibitions with technological advancements.
