The Fremen are missing as a result of the Alternate Timeline in Dune: Awakening, finding the Fremen is part of the player's journey.[1]
Due to the Fremen's absence or extermination the player will be able to find relics of the past civilization, abandoned sietchs and potentially even fill the power vacuum left behind.[1]
Despite not being the Messiah, the player will still learn the ways of the desert through the teachings left behind by the Fremen and go through the Trials of Aql.[1]
