Alternate Timeline

Dune: Awakening features a distinct timeline split from the original canon that everyone is already familiar with.

In-game

• Paul Atreides is never born. Instead, Lady Jessica follows the Bene Gesserit Sisterhood's orders and has a daughter, Ariste Atreides, aligned with the Order's aim of achieving a Kwisatz Haderach.
• Dr. Yueh is exposed before his betrayal, as Lady Jessica was trained as a truthsayer, having remained loyal to the Bene Gesserit.
• The Duke is able to prepare House Atreides for battle, and they survive the ambush on Arrakis by the Harkonnens and Sardaukar.
• Arrakis erupts into a War of Assassins.
• To protect spice production on Arrakis, the Emperor deploys his Sardaukar forces.
• The Fremen are missing, supposedly exterminated by the Sardaukar, or so they say...

Battle of Arrakeen occurs 10,191 AG. Eight years later, repairs to the city of Arrakeen still continue, as the Atreides fortify their position. The present year is assumed to be 10,199 AG in-game.
