Lore
The Fremen reflecting their innate ability to survive and travel across the vast regions of Arrakis possess many secretive and secure paths for moving both people and goods from settlement to settlement while avoiding exposure to the harsh sun, sand worms and potential enemies. The Shortway is one such path formed between the rocks and serves not only as a shelter point but also an access point into the sheltered center of the rock formation in which it sits perfect for travelers and pilgrims alike. With the disappearance and slaughter of the Fremen these tunnels have slowly been uncovered and utilized by groups of opportunistic scavengers for their own use, sheltering from both CHOAM Patrols, Sandworms and other scavenger groups who desire their goods for themselves.
