Western Safeway is a small Cave found in Hagga Basin South. It's name heavily implies that it is part of a network of hidden cave paths used by the Fremen. Other similar caves are the Outer Safeway and Eastern Safeway
Location
This cave is sealed and located within an island cluster in the Northeast section of Hagga Basin South. There are north and south entrances to this cave.
Lore
The Fremen reflecting their innate ability to survive and travel across the vast regions of Arrakis possess many secretive and secure paths for moving both people and goods from settlement to settlement while avoiding exposure to the harsh sun, sand worms and potential enemies. The Western Safeway is one such path formed between the rocks and serves not only as a shelter point but also an access point into the sheltered center of the rock formation in which it sits perfect for travelers and pilgrims alike. With the disappearance and slaughter of the Fremen these tunnels have slowly been uncovered and utilized by groups of opportunistic scavengers for their own use, sheltering from both CHOAM Patrols, Sandworms and other scavenger groups who desire their goods for themselves. These particular scavengers who inhabit the cave passage known as the Western Safeway are likely connected to the nearby scavenger outpost and base of Hollow Arches, from which scavenger activities in the area are coordinated from. However, it remains to be seen if these two groups represent a single large group or merely working together out of mutual need.
