Piter de Vries is the Harkonnen Master of Assassins. A twisted Mentat serving as the faction's tactical mastermind on Arrakis, working against his Atreides counterpart, Thufir Hawat. He acts as a primary contact for players associating with the Harkonnen faction.
Lore
Piter de Vries is an amoral Twisted Mentat in the service of House Harkonnen and one of the most dangerous minds operating on Arrakis. He is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen's brilliant and sadistic advisor.
Residing in Harko Village, he greets visitors with cold analytical interest, treating them as potential tools or obstacles to be "dissected… mentally, of course."
In the ongoing War of Assassins, Piter functions as the calculating mind behind Harkonnen operations on Arrakis. Where Rabban provides brute force and the Baron supplies overarching ambition, Piter supplies the precise, amoral strategy. His optional dialogue reveals a mind that delights in manipulation, views most people as disposable variables, and measures interactions against how they advance Harkonnen (or his own) interests.
In-Game
He assigns the Player a series of contracts designed to test loyalty, competence, and usefulness. Only after the player has proven themselves through these tasks does Piter deem them a valuable asset. At that point he personally escorts them before Glossu Rabban to formalize their allegiance to House Harkonnen.
