Fire is one of those ever present dangers in Dune Awakening making a hot land even hotter, from environmental flames in camps, shipwrecks and instanced areas, to weaponry that sprouts fire as if from a dragon's mouth. Fire is one status effect you do not want built up full else you become yet another victim of the harsh world of pain that is Arrakis.

Possible threats found within Dune Awakening:

  • Campfires: These are an environmental source of Fire damage found within the world, both in camps and strongholds dotted across the playable area.
  • Fire Plumes: Another environmental hazard found both in the open world and story based instances, best to avoid if possible else have a Static Compactor handy to neutralize the flames.
  • Fire Canisters: White canisters with red centers contain flammable material if shot and set alight, exploding with a huge blast radius, it is worth keeping away from these if possible or tactfully taking them out on your approach if possible.
  • Explosive Landmines: Located around the playable area you can find caves and strongholds using explosive mines to protect pathways and treasure. Causing a radius of fire to spread when exploding before rather quickly dissipating.
  • Heavy Flamers: The Heavy Flamers who are recognized looking like minigunners will often do fire build up damage that quickly eats away at shields before cutting down your health. Most notably found in higher quantity in Sandflies held Sentinel City and Testing Station 136 on the Overland Map.
  • Testing Stations: While worth noting that not all Testing Stations may contain potential fire damage it is always worth watching your step. Players making an excursion to the overland map for Testing Station 136 may want to be weary of the numerous fire wielding opponents to be found within, fire canisters which can be shot by both players and enemies to great effect and flame traps to be found to your delight.
  • Turrets: Like their dart firing counterpart, you may encounter upon Arrakis fire belching turrets which like Heavy Flamers can do significant damage to your shields and rapidly empty your health bar.
  • Enemy Players: Enemy players can apply fire damage to you via flamethrowers and blades equipped with fire damage potential, staying at range is key to avoiding the brunt of such damage. With skill in dodging and deflecting hits key to tactically take down fire wielding players, while worth noting you can just use said damage right back at them to see who stands tall after. Additionally keeping an eye on players using longer ranged weaponry, who may intentionally shoot red fire barrels and/or mines to stop you in your tracks.
