Solido Projection

SOLIDO PROJECTION: Welcome to Imperial Testing Station No. 195, current home to some of the most accomplished botanists in the Imperium. Our mission is to prove that - though hybridization - any plant can be adapted to thrive in any environment. Our primary objective will be to develop new strains of plants native to tropical Ecaz that can survive in the extreme aridity of Arrakis. A true challenge. The accomplished botanist Dr. Rymar Thuringer once undertook a similar task at the venerable Station 76. In the end, he declared it impossible. However, the science of plant genetics has come a long way since Thuringer's time. I am certain we shall succeed where he has failed.

ANCIENT SCIENTIST: Project progress report #7 - we continue to work diligently on our main objectives but, complete success remains frustratingly elusive. We soldier on however. One interesting side note is we have created a viable hybrid of fogwood and elacca. Imagine that: the enigmatic fogwood, a plant capable of being shaped solely by the power of human thought, crossed with elacca, the source of some of the most dangerous narcotics in known space. It's all rather fascinating. While I know this is a deviation from our main mission, what's the harm in exploring it a bit further?
BANDIT: I don't like this! At first, I thought Burrbridge led us to the perfect hideout. Yeah, it took some getting used to, with all those plants everywhere, like one of them jungle worlds I've heard of. But now it's like... I don't know... it's like something in here is messing with my mind. It's got me thinking thoughts that aren't my own. Burrbridge doesn't seem bothered by it though, and if you complain he's likely to bust your skull. I don't like this at all!
ANCIENT SCIENTIST: Project progress report #31 - we have ceased work on survival hybridization. Everyone has come to realize that it is only the fogwood-elacca research that matters now... It's truly intriguing how the fogwood connection seems to work both ways: human thought shaping plants, plants shaping human thought... The elacca factor is the true wildcard though: the fury of the elacca and the bliss of semuta... During yesterday's experiment Sharma became enraged when Kent borrowed her pruning shears. She used them to cut off all his fingers. Kent just sat there smiling the whole time. Fascinating...
WALTUR BURRBRIDGE: It's an ideal place, really. I mean, what could be better? All the water and shelter you could ever need. Safe from the law. And the plants... nice plants, they're such nice plants. I never want to leave. But then, you know, the men... they keep telling me that they don't feel safe here. That it BOTHERS THEM! THAT THEY FEEL UNEASY! UNEASY! I'll beat some sense into every one of them! MAKE THEM SEE THAT ... it is nice, here. It's so very nice. And the plants, they're so.. they're so friendly. They share so much with me. It's time for another dose, I think.
