For some reason, Dr. Shaffat's medical supplies were routed through Hagga Basin - probably the Kirab spoofing transponder codes. Now the supplies have gone missing - they're out there somewhere.
Find them and bring them back to me - I promise I won't take all the credit. Just a little bit.
Objectives
- Find the wreck
- Recover the cargo
- Deliver the cargo to Dr. Shaffat in Arrakeen
- Complete the Eyes of the Kirab contract from Frida Maltros
Findings
"Pilot's Scribbled Notes" at the ornithopter wreckage
The pilot's logbook devolves into unreadable, scribbled scrawl. These are the words you can make out.
Yellow — yellow — yellow... everything!
Growbian — Hieronmyus... the ghost ship!
We see — we see — we see... truth is an infection!
Crawl — crawl — crawl — they crawl through holes in space.
Only we can stop them!
Contract item: Lost Shipment
A small package that seems to contain medical equipment. Requisitioned by Doctor Shaffat in order to help with the pandemic, it seems a monumentally stupid decision for the Kirab to have shot this cargo out of the air. But bandits aren't known for being smart.
Dialogue
When starting mission
Frida Maltros: Excuse me... Oh, it's you. As I clearly stated earlier, it is impossible to speak to Doctor Shaffat at this time. Player: What's that about a missing delivery? Frida Maltros: We're fighting a deadly plague. Infection causes fever, eye tremors, and yellowed vision. There are even signs of increased aggression. Very alarming. Frida Maltros: A shipment of equipment vital to studying and eventually treating this epidemic has gone missing. Frida Maltros: If you were to locate and bring said equipment to Doctor Shaffat, in Arrakeen, she would reward you fairly. Arrakeen, and even Arrakis, are at stake. Player: I'll get you your equipment.
When turning in contract
Dr. Shaffat:
I cannot afford civility right now. I'm dealing with a plague, and unless you are delivering equipment needed for that end, speak to my assistant.
Player:
As a matter of fact, I have your package with me.

Dr. Shaffat:
You do? Show it to me.
Dr. Shaffat:
Ah... forgive my curtness. Good news is as rare as rain in Arrakis. You are most welcome here.
Dr. Shaffat:
Now, if we move past my bad manners, let's have a look at what you brought so I can properly compensate you... Oh yes, this will do splendidly.
Player:
Are you able to determine if I am infected?
Dr. Shaffat:
The disease is quite contagious. I can test a sample of your blood in my blood purifier here. One moment...
Dr. Shaffat:
Ah. I was afraid of that. You test positive.
Player:
What should I do?
Dr. Shaffat:
You still have time but only a matter of weeks. We must use it wisely. Help me solve this epidemic, and you will be among the first I cure.
Player:
What's going to happen to me if you can't find a cure?
Dr. Shaffat:
Your fever will worsen. You'll experience sweats, dizziness, eye tremors, and weakness. Yellowed eyes. Your vision will turn yellow.
Dr. Shaffat:
From there, the symptoms will get... more severe. I will need to study the illness further to know more. I can say that it's quite serious.
Player:
Then I better help you find that cure. What do you need?
Dr. Shaffat:
I need samples of infected blood, from as many demographics as possible. We must feed this problem data.
Player:
I can get all the blood you need.
Dr. Shaffat:
Speak to my assistant, Frida Maltros. She can fill you in on the tissue samples I need and other particulars. Check in with her daily.
Dr. Shaffat:
Also, please collect as much blood for me as possible. You can deliver it in this blood sample collector.
Dr. Shaffat:
Frida will see to the samples. In addition to possibly saving your life, she'll see that you are properly compensated for your work.
