Mining is one of features in Dune: Awakening, letting you to mine resources from rocks to further process them and craft items! [1]
Mining
Mining can be done with ores and other things currently unknown at the time. Tools usable for this are unknown too, but we have already seen a laser mining tool, this tool will be called a cutter ray. [1] [2][3] Mining will be aim-assisted, to ease the pain from controller users. [4]
To start mining a rock, the player will need to use the analysis mode of the cutter ray, through this the player will see the weak points of the boulder they're attempting to mine.
These weaknesses are displayed to the player through the lines/patterns on the stone. If the player traces this line or pattern with their beam they will both mine the rock in less time as well as increasing the sone's yield.
Furthermore, as the rocks increase in tier, the patterns will become more complex and require better cutter rays.
Salvaging
Salvaging broken vehicles for resources or possibly parts for re-use also seems to be an option. Whether the wrecks will be of player origin, or part of world generation is unknown. [2]
