In-game
The Deep Desert, is home to the shifting sands, the mechanic which will wipe the area clean and change the landscape with the weekly coming of the Coriolis Storm.[1][2]
Using this mechanic, the player can venture out into the deep desert with a building blueprint to reap the rewards of the deep desert and retreat back to their safe base after, repeating the cycle if they wish.[2]
