Fremen
The Fremen are a sub-culture of humans descended from the Zensunni Wanderers who considered the planet Arrakis their home. In the books and films, they adopt Paul Muad'dib Atreides as their prophetised leader and lead a jihad across the universe, under the banner of a new Atreides Empire.
They are fierce warriors and skilled survivalists, adapted to the harsh nature of Arrakis and cultural persecution across their entire history. They remain deeply religious and isolationist, living in patriarchal collectives, known as Sietches, and are extremely frugal and efficient, especially when it comes to water preservation.[1]
In-Game
The Fremen are missing as a result of the Alternate Timeline in Dune: Awakening, finding the Fremen is part of the player's journey.[2]
Due to the Fremen's absence or extermination the player will be able to find relics of the past civilization, abandoned Sietches and potentially even fill the power vacuum left behind.[2]
Despite not being a messiah figure or Mahdi, the player will still learn the ways of the desert through the teachings left behind by the Fremen and go through the Trials of Aql[2] this has been seen as one of the player Journeys
