Region laid to waste by the war, partly sheltered by the Shield Wall.

The Hagga Basin is a massive depression in Arrakis' outer crust, protecting it from the worst of the planetary Coriolis Storms that scour most of the planet. Thanks also to the Shield Wall mountain range, it is one of the few locations on Arrakis where people permanently reside, aside from the hidden Fremen Sietches.

Details

The Hagga Basin contains a variety of geological formations and unique environments, such as the iron-rich sands of the Vermillius Gap, the deep Hagga Rift, the comparatively lush O'odham, and the irradiated Sheol, to name but a few.
