Investigate and take advantage of an incident at Wind Pass.

Briefing

An incident at Wind Pass has triggered a rapid containment response by the Yafengs, an ancient Water Shipper dynasty. The resulting shift in water output and site activity has drawn quiet attention within the Landsraad.

You are sent to investigate. Recover what evidence you can, determine the cause of the disturbance, and act before the Water Shippers close the ledger.

Objectives

Rock and Roots

Gather information about the incident

  • Find the operational archives terminal
  • Read the incident report

Investigate the scene of the incident

  • Investigate the area around the asteroid
  • Acquire the samples of the asteroid
  • Find information about the asteroid

Investigate the underground facility

  • Find the way down into the Greenhouse
  • Find out what the Water Shippers are growing
  • Gather the first tuber root sample
  • Gather the second tuber root sample
  • Gather the third tuber root sample

Gather information from the Research and Development Lab

  • Reach the lab
  • Retrieve water filtration report

Complete your report on Yafeng's water production

  • Find the main operations terminal
  • Find the results of the requested analysis

Escape from Wind Pass

  • Return to the ornithopter

Acessing Operations Archives Terminal during objective: Gather information about the incident

The terminal screen flickers. Three reports were filed in the last few weeks to be reviewed by the Head of Operations Ksenia Yafeng.
Player: 1. Read "incident report 1300-25". 2. Read "incident report 1400-42". 3. Read "incident report 1500-67".
[1] Incident 1300-25: Crew reported an unidentified shape on a distant ridge. Ranger patrol dispatched. No tracks identified. Perimeter guard notified. Continued monitoring in effect. [2] Incident 1400-42: Suspension field collapse. Asteroid dropped from tower under full gravity. Significant structural damage sustained. Core water extraction systems impacted. Greenhouse system status unknown. Full incident detail sealed by order of site authority. Discussion of this event is prohibited. This was the information you were looking for. [3] Incident 1500-67: Log index temporal mismatch. ERROR: Record timestamp exceeds current operational cycle.

"Asteroid Impact Assessment" from objective: OBJECTIVE NAME

The suspension field did not flicker or degrade. It collapsed. The asteroid dropped from the tower under full gravity. Impact pattern and tower telemetry confirm total loss of field integrity, not navigational error.

The recent asteroid impact will result in a measurable slowdown in overall water production. Initial projections indicate reduced extraction efficiency across affected systems pending recovery operations.

Preliminary surveys confirm proximity to the subterranean greenhouse network. A full structural assessment has been requested to evaluate potential damage to support infrastructure below the point of impact.

"Internal Memorandum - Tuber Production Status" from objective: OBJECTIVE NAME

Head of Operations Ksenia Yafeng has issued directives to offset projected water shortages by increasing reliance on tuber-derived production.

Tuber yield remains below target levels but luckily shows no direct degradation following the recent asteroid incident. Root systems appear stable.

However, R&D has not cleared the current generation of modified strains for consumption. Ongoing concerns remain regarding stability and safety.

Despite operational pressure, recommendation to delay market integration stands. Further validation is required before distribution.

"Report: Tuber Water Composition Variance" from objective: Gather information from the Research and Development Lab

The recent asteroid incident has disrupted greenhouse temperature control, invalidating current test conditions. Quality and safety trials must be restarted.

Post-cycle samples from our new heat-resistant tuber strains show persistent unidentified compounds present in processed water. Preliminary analysis indicates these compounds originate from tuber root absorption. Their behavior and long-term effects remain unverified.

A full composition analysis of processed water has been requested through the main operations terminal. Priority status reassigned. Results pending.

Completion Message

You return with samples and reports. Good work. If the Yafengs have indeed been selling tainted water, what you brought us will become considerable leverage.
