Downloadable Content
Downloadable Content (DLC) refers to optional paid additions to the game. These range from cosmetic items, such as buildables and skins, to gameplay content including quests, locations and schematics.
Any narrative content in DLC is designed to be standalone and lore-focused, offering additional worldbuilding. Gameplay content is explicitly not pay-to-win; for example, the Treadwheel is a sidegrade to the Sandbike, not an upgrade.
Most DLC-exclusive items that occupy inventory space, such as schematics, can still be used by players who do not own the DLC, if somehow obtained from other players.

Expansions
The first Expansion was teased[1] and set for a 2026 release.
However, it should be noted that Funcom's stance regarding DLC has since changed after the release of the first Content Pack, Lost Harvest. Community feedback indicated that players do not want gameplay content, even if optional, locked behind a paywall.[2]
We firmly believe in keeping the DLCs to optional cosmetic content, while new features, gameplay, locations, and story content are released for free to the benefit of all players. It’s better for the game’s long-term health and we also know that’s what you, the players, want based on the feedback we received after Chapter 2.
Therefore, it remains to be seen if the planned Expansion will be repackaged.
