House Alexin

House Alexin is a House Major, and one of the 25 voting Houses within the Landsraad.

It is part of the Manufacturing Union, a bloc of the Landsraad focused on Crafting.

As a result, corresponding Landsraad Missions may be completed on the House's behalf. Doing so increases a player's personal standing with the House, unlocking tiered rewards independent of the weekly Landsraad vote outcome.

Lore

House Alexin pursues long-term objectives on Arrakis and seeks assistance to achieve them, offering what its envoy describes as political goodwill, including support in the Landsraad, in return. The diplomatic envoy of House Alexin, Graem Candis, describes himself as “more at ease with gourd seeds than with politics”, stating that he was nevertheless sent because a representative was required. Candis oversees, among other responsibilities, the Neo-Carthag project, which he identifies as the largest client on Arrakis. According to Graem Candis, the Maula contingent of this project alone consumes more than twice the amount of food consumed by the city of Arrakeen.

Candis presents House Alexin as composed of traditional farmers and producers and states that its influence is growing rapidly. He claims that his house feeds half the Imperium across all social classes. He further states that House Alexin employs technology in the pursuit of its activities, but not at the expense of tradition.

Graem Candis also states that part of his house’s mission on Arrakis is to study methods of harvesting melange, but declines to elaborate further and ends the discussion on the matter.

Graem Candis: What business do you have with House Alexin?

Player: Tell me about yourself.
Graem Candis: The name is Graem Candis, diplomatic envoy for House Alexin. I think that's my title, anyway. It's a bit complicated.
Player: 1. Complicated how? 2. [NOBILITY] You don't speak like a Noble Born. How did you come to be a House envoy?
Graem Candis: Truth be told, I'm just a glorified farmer. More at ease with gourd seeds than politics. But they needed to send someone - and here I am.

Player: But why are you here?
Graem Candis: Hah, well I may still have dirt under my fingernails, but I know enough about politics to avoid just giving out that information.
Player: Maybe we can help each other out.
Graem Candis: Perhaps. I've been told to find the right sort to help us achieve our long term goals here on Arrakis. In payment, I can offer political goodwill.
Player: Political goodwill?
Graem Candis: Our vote. On the high council of the Landsraad. In matters pertaining to Arrakis - we can be swayed with the right incentives.

Player: What is a farmer doing in Harko Village?
Graem Candis: Why am I here, you ask? Well, that's an easy one. One only has to gaze at the dull glow across the horizion for a quick answer. The Neo-Carthag project is our single largest client on Arrakis. The maula contingent alone consumes more food than two cities the size of Arrakeen.
Player: And you oversee that personally?
Graem Candis: Among other duties, such as meeting with people like you.

Player: Tell me more about House Alexin.
Graem Candis: If you haven't heard of House Alexin, you will soon. Our influence grows rapidly - into hearts, minds and most of all, stomachs.
Player: Stomachs?
Graem Candis: We're traditional farmers and producers. We feed half the Imperium at any given time and make sure that nobody, from maula to noble, goes hungry.
Player: 1. There isn't much farming on Arrakis. 2. [HONORABLE] That's a noble pursuit. 3. [TECHNOLOGIST] It's technology that allows you to feed half the Imperium. Not tradition.
Graem Candis: [1] Oh but you're wrong. Arrakis has the greatest crop of all! Melange! A part of my mission here is to study the methods of harvesting and finding opt-- Alas. I have said too much on this topic. Please let's speak of other things. [2] Thank you. House Alexin stands by our house words - "Reap as you sow". We have no tradition of war or battle, the symbol of the wheat sheaf suffices. [3] We feel differently. Technology has its place, but not at the expense of tradition. Our values as a House reflect that. Farming is what we do best.
