The Spacing Guild is an interstellar trade and shipping organization that was active during the Butlerian Jihad and afterwards rose to prominence and monopolizing FTL (Faster then light) travel during the rule of House Corrino.

Lore

After the climax of the Butlerian Jihad the Space Guild had started monopolizing FTL and interstellar travel while also rising to become a strong powerhouse of religious and political views. Through meetings with other the guilds they secured their position within the Empire and rose to much fame during the Rule of House Corrino. Spacing guild held much power over the Emperor since they possessed and kept secret the means of folding space for FTL.

Spice melange became everything to their organization, it was their power. Spice Melange was a fuel and necessary narcotic for them to achieve FTL travel. They employ Navigators (mutants) that are changed by the very spice melange that they live and breath.
