Feyd is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen's nephew, and the Na-Baron of House Harkonnen.

Lore

As the War of Assassins dragged on, burden increased on both the Atreides and Harkonnen. This situation led the two families to seek a peace treaty through a betrothal.

Feyd, a young noble of House Harkonnen, though cruel and psychopathic, found himself intrigued by Ariste Atreides, whereas she found him unexpectedly charming.

Just before the engagement could be successfully finalized, Feyd hosted a bullfight to honor Ariste's grandfather. The marriage between the two families fell through due to the cruel way he slaughtered the Salusan Bull.

First encounter, during the Journey "A Sign From Above"

Dashing Nobleman: Ho there! It seems this poor bastard has some metal lodged in his throat. Nothing to be done about it, of course. Unless you're a Suk doctor -- which I'm fairly certain you are not.
Player: 1. I'm not a survivor. I just arrived. 2. You're right, I'm no Suk doctor.
Dashing Nobleman: [1 and 2.] Yes, quite the opposite in fact, you have the look of a degenerate killer about you. Dashing Nobleman: A happy development as it were. It just so happens I'm in need of a degenerate killer.
Player: 1. I take no pleasure in killing. And I have other things to do. 2. Not interested. I have my own mission here. 3. I do kill a lot of people, now that you mention it.
Dashing Nobleman: [1 and 2.] Don't be modest. We haven't the time. [3.] The smoke from this wreckage is already visible across three sectors. By sunset, this wreck will be crawling with scavengers of every stripe, out from their hidey-holes to pick the bones clean. You and I must complete our rescue before that swarm arrives.
Player: Rescue? Who are we saving?
Dashing Nobleman: While the ship released a brief distress call in the minutes before impact, there was a second, discreet call on an encrypted frequency. A frequency reserved for the Regis Familia, which puts me in a bit of a bind. I'm highborn, and while I was merely passing through, I am honor-bound to investigate any distress call transmitted on a noble frequency.
Player: 1. [PYON] Why would I be interested in rescuing some stuck up Noble born? 2. [BONDSMAN] I don't like to get involved in highborn business. 3. [NOBILITY] An encrypted distress channel? I've never heard of such a thing. 4. This sounds like trouble to me...
Dashing Nobleman: [1 and 2.] I don't expect you to understand, gutter-born as you surely are. But understand this-- [3.] What would you know? You likely served some minor noble in the past but we're speaking of Houses Major here, not some by-blow cousin of a minor duke.
Dashing Nobleman: As the sole ranking Imperial subject of the First Order, I am fully empowered to compel your assistance on this mission. You will help me find and extricate the highborn passenger behind the distress call. Unless you question my authority. In which case, you might find some metal lodged in your throat.
Player: 1. I recognize your authority, but I have a mission of my own. 2. I don't like being threatened, and I don't have time. I have my own mission here. 3. What's in it for me?
Dashing Nobleman: [1.] Help me with my rescue and I will keep an eye out for whatever bauble you require. [2 and 3.] Normally I'd kill you for the insult, but since I need your assistance... I help you find what you need, and you help me save the highborn?
Player: I'm looking for an Ixian Decoder.
Dashing Nobleman: Luckily for you, we're on a cargo ship positively laden with advanced technological wonders. We'll find your decoder and my highborn and abscond with our spoils before the rabble of the desert shows up. Deal?
Player: 1. If I say no, you're going to try to kill me, right? 2. Never killed Ixians before. 3. Deal.

Dashing Nobleman: [1.] Maybe. Maybe not. Ask him. [2.] Well then, you are in for a treat. They come in different flavors. The Suboids are especially rambunctious.
Player: I'm in.

Dashing Nobleman: [3.] Excellent! Our first order of business is to gain access to the hold. This helpful fellow suggested our distress call might have originated there. It's not unheard of for highborns to travel incognito using old cargo containers. Usually refurbished with luxury appointments. The ship's hold will most assuredly be protected by a pentashield - the Ixians are randy for security. You will need to find a key. I will endeavor to locate the cargo manifest, so that we may ascertain exactly which container we are looking for. And that thing you want, of course. I'll stay in contact over the net. Kill anything that moves.
Player: Goodbye.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Find a way into the cargo bay".

Dashing Noble: You're going to have to engage and secure the hold. An easy bit of murder for a killer like you. The Suboids are but brain-addled laborers with no aptitude for combat. And they are light-sensitive.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, after speaking to Suph Rondi.

[If the player made the dialogue choice "Remove his eye":] Dashing Noble: Messy business, removing an eye. Of course, CHOAM makes a little vacuum-y tool to perfectly pop one out while simultaneously cauterizing the hole. I've been meaning to get one, but somehow, without the knife, it feels like the fun would be lost. And I am glad I was right about you, my degenerate killer.

[If the player made the dialogue choice "I'll go take a look. Stay here.":] Dashing Noble: Well, I suppose it will do. It would have been more fun to take one from someone alive though. I've been assured that the process is quite painless. Oh, not for the person losing the eye.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Survive the suboid assault while the nobleman powers up the cargo bay":

Dashing Noble: I'm in the ship's power center. Emergency power is holding. Dashing Noble: Try not to die until I solve this bit of technical tomfoolery. Dashing Noble: Oh, that did something. Dashing Noble: Heh. That was the engines. Dashing Noble: Almost have it. Dashing Noble: And on the seventh day, the [Na-]Baron said... Let there be light! Dashing Noble: That was taxing. Dashing Noble: Now, you're going to have to locate the mechanism to move the containers around.

[Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Find the Container Cargo Bay":

Dashing Noble: When pushed, I will, for the most part, admit that Ixian technology is reliable.
Dashing Noble: So you're looking for an Ixian decoder on an Ixian shipwreck, which makes sense. But what I'm curious about is what you want to decode. Don't worry, like most things, the mystery of your purpose here is probably beneath my notice. Still, I have to wonder who tipped you off about this shipwreck and how you got here so fast. Don't worry though, we can have a thorough discussion about it *after* we've rescued the princess and salvaged your Ixian decoder.
Dashing Noble: The layout of this frigate is maddening. We're looking for container HH-40236.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Find the container used to smuggle in the noble".

Dashing Noble: Describe what you see. Leave nothing out.
Player: 1. Describe the Orange Catholic Bible 2. Describe the communinet device and its frequency 3. Describe the Bene Gesserit sister garment
Dashing Noble: [1.] An Orange Catholic Bible. What's that passage agian? "Beware the seeds you sow and the crops you reap. Do not curse God for the punishment you inflict upon yourself." [2.] And a communinet console, set to an Atreides frequency. [3.] That's Bene Gesserit garb. So our trapped noble was Bene Gesserit.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Find your way to the bridge section":

Dashing Noble: Looking at the system files, it seems the remaining Ixians and our Bene Gesserit noble have barricaded themselves in the bridge - And there's a mass of Suboids trying to get in. We had better hurry. I'll meet you there.
Dashing Noble: I must admit something to you. I'm afraid I haven't been entirely candid about our mission. Neither my presence here or the identity of our rescue subject are as random as I might have first let on. A Bene Gesserit Sister, a noble with highly placed Atreides contacts, returning in secret from Wallach IX. Home of the Bene Gesserit Mother School. I do believe my errant princess has come home at last.

Communinet transmissions during A Sign From Above, objective "Switch off the Emergency Override", as the player and Feyd are separated and attacked by Suboids:

Dashing Noble: Well, that's not a positive development. Dashing Noble: Try to switch the lights on.
The player completes the objective, beginning the objective "Remove the Fuse Capacitor".
Dashing Noble: They fight with unexpected ferocity.
The player completes the objective, beginning the objective "Restart the Power Nacelles".
Dashing Noble: Any time now.
The player completes the objective, beginning the objective "Turn the auxiliary power on to support the noble".
Dashing Noble: Feel free to join in!
The player completes the objective, beginning the objective "Search for an Ixian Decoder in the bridge".
Dashing Noble: Plenty to go around!

Conversation at the end of the Journey "A Deadly Poison":

Feyd-Rautha: I am ecstatic to find you here. We have more in common than even I had guessed -- a love for the fighting pits. Death and spectacle intertwined! Many of my station consider such venues beneath them, but every so often, I need to curl my toes in the clay of blood and soil It keeps me... grounded. The roar of the crowd. The fount of arterial spray, redder than red. Performing, not just for your opponent, but an audience. Ah, childhood memories.
Player: 1. So you're the Dancer of Veils?! 3. You run your tongue like a madman. 4. You saved my life. Thank you. 5. Is that what brings you here, recreational combat?
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] Do you like my nom de plume? Pardon my preening, but this sport, this art isn't just about gratuitous violence. You have to inject some romance. Otherwise... it's just meat hacking meat. [3.] Ah, a modicum of gratitude. A life saved is a life earned. What percentage of your life do you calculate I own? No matter. I shall run that tally. [4.] One must maintain one's edge. Also, I find observing other combatants quite educational. I could not help but observe your bouts quite closely.
Player: 1. I don't care about that. I'm here for a greater purpose. 2. What sort of observations did you make?

Feyd-Rautha:

[2] It cannot be denied that your technique is effective, if workman-like. However, you would benefit from a better sense of showmanship.
Player: 1. How do you mean? 2. I don't fight for show. 3. [NOBILITY] Should we really care what the masses think when we are dolling out violence? 4. [SWORDMASTER] The path of my blade wastes neither motion nor blood. It is not meant for entertainment. 5. [GIEDI PRIME] Any child of Giedi Prime knows to take full advantage of Harkonnen wisdom.
Feyd-Rautha:

[1.] Find the joy. An enemy's corpse can be made into a perfect moment in time. Failing to capture that just seems... like a waste of human life.
Player: While that is fascinating, I am here for a greater purpose.

[2.] We are not slaughtering hogs for mass consumption. An enemy's corpse can be made into a perfect moment in time. Failing to capture that just seems... like a waste of human life.
Player: I'm not here for sick thrills. I have a greater purpose.

[4.] Yet when child or soldier says, "the Swordmasters of Ginaz," it conjures figures out of the epics themselves. It was always meant for entertainment. [5.] Well you have certainly perfected that familiar, oily obsequiousness. With a sharp knife, you'll slither far. Never miss an opportunity to fascinate.
Feyd-Rautha: An enemy's corpse can be made into a perfect moment in time. Failing to capture that just seems... like a waste of human life.
Player: Be that as it may, I'm here for a more pressing purpose.

Feyd-Rautha: Quite right. And I do believe you found said purpose with that thing wearing Sinnu, yes? Hunting Face Dancers are we?
Player: 1. You are correct. 2. Perhaps... 3. I don't know what you're talking about.
Feyd-Rautha: [1 and 2.] Well, one does dip their toes into such oddities when one is an agent of Count Fenring, don't you agree?
Player: 1. That's a fascinating fiction you've created. 2. You are incisive. I'll give you that. 3. [HARKONNEN] I assure you, my ultimate allegiance is to House Harkonnen.
Feyd-Rautha: [1 and 2.] While we are skirting the topic of secret doings, just what were you up to in Old Carthag? Oh yes, I noticed your little holiday in that corpse city. [3.] Excellent, then you will surely tell me all about Old Carthag. Oh yes, I noticed your little sojourn to the corpse of my beloved city.
Player: 1. It was just a desolate heap -- haunted and empty. 2. I found Tleilaxu treachery. I discovered I am a ghola.
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] Keep your secrets, then. I cut my way to them, eventually.

Feyd-Rautha: [2.] Well... When you confide, you take no half measures. Fascinating! You are a creature of mystery, aren't you? Born out of death. Who did you come from?
Player: I do not know.
Feyd-Rautha: I have so many questions... but there will be time for that later.

Player: You're keeping a very close eye on me.
Feyd-Rautha: Oh I suspect the near future will see us in close proximity. In fact, I demand nothing less.
Player: 1. Are you stalking me? 2. You are interesting company, at the very least.
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] May as well ask a tiger if it is stalking. That is simply how it moves. [2.] Such flattery is liable to make me blush.
Player: You were also following me in Arrakeen. Why?
Feyd-Rautha: Your friendship with Ariste Atreides intrigued me. I must admit an intense fascination with her. We are betrothed to one another, you see.

Player:

1. How does a Harkonnen get betrothed to an Atreides? 2. I don't care about your marital entanglements.

Feyd-Rautha:

[1.] A union designed to broker peace between the Houses and ensure an optimal mingling of the bloodlines. But it was more than politics and breeding. There was... an emotional connection, stronger than either of us would have guessed. Things went swimmingly. Until they didn't.
Player: 1. What did you do? 2. [ATREIDES] You're clearly projecting. I doubt Ariste could feel anything for a Harkonnen. 3. [HARKONNEN] Are things so desperate that we must couple with Atreides broodmares?
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] How are you so sure it was me? You're right, of course. During the celebration of our impending nuptials, I may have acted with disproportionate gusto. [2.] Have you ever tried whistling with a sucking chest wound? You are spoiling my story of tragic romance. [3.] Speak of my intended in such vulgar tones again, and I'll cut out your tongue and then force you to recite a sonnet. You are spoiling my story of tragic romance.
Player: > So... what did you do?
Feyd-Rautha: This is as much the fault of the Atreides. Bullfighting is their culture, and they act like they'd never seen a dead bull like that before. Well... to be perfectly, exceedingly, absolutely fair to them, I suppose no one had ever seen a bull end up quite like that before. What they call poor taste, I call artful transgression. Yet and still, the brokered union came apart, the War of Assassins continue, and here we are.
Player: 1. Just what possessed you to do that? 2. I don't need any of the messy details.

Feyd-Rautha: [1.] An impertinent question above your station! I don't know. The courtship was going so well. I was on my very best behavior. Ariste responded in kind. Drunk on enthusiasm, I thought she should see my more hidden depths. I thought she could fathom them.
Player: 1. What do you intend to do now? 2. What exactly did you do to that bull?
Feyd-Rautha: [2.] Oh let's just leave that seed in the fertile soil of your imagination, my Degenerate Killer. You can wield a crowd like a knife. It takes deft precision. Let's just say that my audience was not ready for the best of me. Ah well... Be that as it may, I still intend to see my betrothal through. Call me... a romantic.

[2.] No? They were quite messy. Dripping, in point of fact.

Feyd-Rautha: [2.] And here I was about to open my gaping chest and bare my naked heart. Oh well.

Player: If you wish to access Ariste through me, I'm afraid I'm now cut off.
Feyd-Rautha: Oh? Do tell.
Player: 1. Lady Jessica forbids I interact with Ariste. I think she means to kill me if I do. 2. I think not.
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] Be still, my wicked heart. The parallels between you and I are uncanny. Both forbidden from Ariste on pain of death from a Bene Gesserit witch. [2.] Pity. I would be just the one to confide in, seeing as how I have experience being barred from Ariste as well.
Player: 1. The similarities are eerie. 2. We are nothing alike!

Feyd-Rautha:

[1.] I might be of a mind to explore more thoroughly, more methodically and see what other... parallels we might share.
Player: 1. That does sound... fascinating. 2. I don't know about that. 3. That's not something I'm interested in.
Feyd-Rautha: [1.] Doesn't it just? We'll see what the future holds. [2.] You should practice being more deliberate. We'll see what the future holds.

Feyd-Rautha: [2.] Me thinks the Degenerate Killer doth protest too much. As for myself, I've never felt closer.
Player: One last thing. What do you know about Zanovar?
Feyd-Rautha: If I remember correctly, and I do, Zanovar was a planet decimated during the Great Spice War. House Taligari controlled it. They could tell you more.
Player: I'll be on my way then. Farewell.
Feyd-Rautha: Not so fast, my egress-seeking killer. I'll be coming with you on your next escapade, and I will accept no refusal.
Player: 1. I'm delighted to have such dangerous company. 2. I don't know how to feel about that. 3. No offense, but I don't need a lunatic following me.

Feyd-Rautha:

[1.] Of course you are.
Player: 1. I'll take the lead then. Unlike Ariste, I enjoy having you following me... closely. 2. I have some things to attend to, you are welcome to tag along.

Feyd-Rautha: [1.] I must admit, the exquisite violence of the pit did get my blood up. Death has a way of bringing all sorts of interesting things to the surface.
Player: Death becomes you.
Feyd-Rautha: You say such things, my Degenerate Killer.

Feyd-Rautha: [2.] Being overly familiar with one beneath my station is instilling bad habits. I do not "tag along". I bless one with my resplendent company.

Feyd-Rautha: [2.] That aligns perfectly with my purpose, as I had no interest in knowing your feelings on the matter either. Let us just say I saved your life, and you owe me. [3.] That impertinent expression will get you into trouble. I could relieve you of it by flaying your face. No... no. We must keep good decorum. I shall just remind you that I saved your life, and you owe me.
Feyd-Rautha: No need to call. When your next interesting venture presents itself--I'll be right where I belong--in your blind spot.

Communinet transmissions during the Journey Outside The Law, mission "Meet the Free Traders", after the player leaves Hannivar's.

Feyd-Rautha: How was your rendezvous with the smuggler? Did she call you kitten again? Feyd-Rautha: You know what, don't tell me. I'm just going to follow wherever she sends you next. Feyd-Rautha: Honestly, I need the excitement in my life.
