Dialogue
*In the Neo-Carthag Arena lobby*
Master of Chains:
Little bird, little bird. I heard a rumor that you and I will be entering the pit soon.
Player:
1. Master of Chains, you know what they say: the gaudier the name, the cheaper the thug.
2. Best of luck to you, out there in the pit. You’ll need it.
3. Master of Chains? Quite a name. How’d you end up in the pit?
Master of Chains:
1.a. Is that what they say… Degenerate Killer? Hmmm. I’m going to rename you the Internal Bleeder.
3.a. Like one of them giants from children’s stories who rips out his own heart and hides it away to become invulnerable. I cut out my own name. I cut away the non-essentials. All that remains is the Master of Chains.
Player:
1.a.1. [BENE GESSERIT] You are not even human, but a cur unaware of his predicament.
1.a.2. I’m going to decorate myself with your chains.
3.a.1. And who were you before that?
Master of Chains:
1.a.1.a. I’ll show you how inhuman I am.
1.a.2.a. If I win, I will do the same with your bowels.
3.a.1.a. That’s not a fairytale I’m gonna tell you. Let’s just say I cut my teeth in the slave trade, where I learned one bloody truth.
Player:
1.a.1.a.1. The pit will decide which of us is correct.
1.a.2.a.1. The pit will decide which of us is correct.
3.a.1.a.1. And what truth is that?
Master of Chains:
3.a.1.a.1.a. Despite themselves, most people secretly wish to be dominated. They yearn for the chain. Is that you, little bird?
Player:
3.a.1.a.1.a.1. Try it and see if a knife in your eye feels like yearning.
3.a.1.a.1.a.2. [BONDSMEN] I make my own road, and pave it in the bones of your ilk.
3.a.1.a.1.a.3 [NOBLE] You’re not a chain holder but a mad dog off-leash forgetting to heel to your betters.
Master of Chains:
You come in squawking like you’re ready to seize your destiny, but maybe deep down, in places you don’t like to look, you’re seeking a new cage.
Player:
Goodbye.
*In the Neo-Carthag Arena lobby*
Master of Chains: You just can’t quit this place, can you? Not all chains are physical.
Player: Interesting fight, eh? Who did you place your bet on? Me or the Face Dancer?
Master of Chains: I don’t know what I witnessed, but it thrilled nerve-endings I did not know exist.
Player: What really brings you to the fight pit? Wealth? Thrills?
Master of Chains: Ahh. It’s not the wealth. Got plenty of that in my old trade. It’s more than the thrill, and it isn’t just the death. Look around you. This is life! The most alive you’ll ever be. Guttersnipes and princes enter the muck and gore of the pit, all equalized by the baptism of blood and violence.
Player: Sounds almost religious.
Master of Chains: We’re all lowly thugs and wretches rolling in the filth, and when the Gods look down at us, what’s that in their eyes? It’s ENVY. Sure, the Gods kill trillions daily, but at a cold distance, a faint itch in their nethers. They don’t get up into someone’s guts the way we do, eye to eye. Close. Personal. Intimate. Gods can only daydream of what we get to experience in our short, brutal spin. That’s why I’m here.
Player: Goodbye. <leave>

Ask the desert for violence, and it answers with a scream!
He broke men before breakfast and sold their names for Spice.
From the slave pits of Neo-Carthag — the Master of Chains!
Little is known of the Master of Chain’s history, for, by his own account:
“Like one of them giants from children’s stories who rips out his own heart and hides it away to become invulnerable. I cut out my own name.
I cut away the non-essentials. All that remains is the Master of Chains.”
He reveals only that he cut his teeth in the slave trade and that his attraction to gladiatorial combat stems from the intimate thrill of the challenges experienced uniquely there.
Maksim Dubrov, the fight promoter, ominously refers to him as “the slaver of slavers; the apex slaver!”
He rose through the ranks of the Neo-Carthag Arena until he faced the Degenerate Killer — and was defeated.
Arena Announcer:
The chains are broken!
The Master of Chains is down, and the Pit has a new Keeper!
The Degenerate Killer wins again!
