Lady Ilith Richese is found in Arrakeen on the top floor of the Salusan Bull. When climbing up the top of the stairs to the upper floor, go straight and she will be at the end in an area with couches, along with Morwena Hreg and Orilis Io. She is the first one on the left.
Dialogue
Ilith Richese: Hello, are you the server? I would like to change my order.
Ilith Richese: Oh. You're back.
Player:
1. Do I look like a server to you?
Ilith Richese: Oh, please hold. Allow me to adjust the ocular acuity of my eye implants. My husband is always complaining, "Ilith, turn your eyes up!" I like to keep them turned down in public. Too much visual hurly-burly gives me vapors. There. Yes. Are you the server?
Player:
1. No, I'm not the server.
Ilith Richese: I'm sorry, but why are we speaking if you are not the server? It is improper to speak to an unaccompanied elder Lady of substance without a proper introduction first. It just isn't done. Propriety must be maintained, or there is chaos. Morwena here would have you flogged. Of course, that's not necessary—is it?
Player:
1. No. I overstepped.
2. Is that a threat?
Ilith Richese: Why yes! I'm glad we understand each other. I wasn't sure you would appreciate the subtext. Many poors cannot, you know?
Player:
1. I do now.
2. Goodbye.
3. Goodbye.
After choosing "No. I overstepped." or "I do now.":
Ilith Richese: Understand, dear, we of the nobility are not your enemy. We are superior, it is true. But that advantage allows us to care for you of the lower orders in ways you cannot hope to comprehend. Do you understand?
Player:
1. I understand.
2. Explain it to me again.
Ilith Richese: Think of the underclasses as if they were a dog. You warn a dog against drinking foul water... But if it's thirsty, it will drink—and it will die. We of the nobility have the understanding, resources, and divinely granted imperative to build a fence around the foul water... Thereby protecting the dogs from themselves. Now, do you understand?
Player:
1. I understand.
2. I understand what you're saying, but it's a load of crap.
Ilith Richese: Rude as well as impertinent. This conversation is over.
Player: Goodbye.
3. I was with you until "divinely granted imperative..."
Ilith Richese: How else do you explain it? Why were we three selected to live within the lofty, empyrean heights of the nobility?
Player:
1. Maybe you got lucky?
Ilith Richese: Balderdash. Perhaps that is what you in the underclasses mutter to yourselves as you gaze up at us with covetous eyes. But the divine nature of our appointment cannot be denied. How else can you explain why those with inherent skills to lead are chosen to do so?
Player:
1. First of all, you're born. You're not appointed, selected, or chosen. And as far as I know, who you're born to is entirely random.
Ilith Richese: Spoken with the bitter contempt of one who lost that particular lottery. Away with you.
Player: Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
4. I was with you until the dog metaphor.
Ilith Richese: Perhaps that was a bit indelicate, but the point stands. The underclasses must be protected from themselves. Do you understand?
Player:
1. I understand.
2. Goodbye.
5. Goodbye.
3. Goodbye.
After choosing "I understand." in any of the above paths:
Ilith Richese: There. Was that so difficult? Life would be much easier if we all accepted our place in the order of things. Now that you have braved my wrath for your impertinence, I grant you a single question for your trouble. What do you wish to know?
Player:
1. What is your perspective on the War of Assassins?
Ilith Richese: My perspective is that it has gone on for far too long. Young Ariste Atreides had the chance to end the war. But of course, that Feyd Rautha behaved like the perfect beast he is and scuppered any chance for the union. Now, young Ariste would be much better suited to Orilis' grandson, Cyprian. He is the Imperial Planetologist here, you know.
Player: Goodbye.
2. What do you think of the Atreides?
Ilith Richese: What do I think of them? Of course, my family has been closely aligned with the Atreides for generations. My niece, Helena, was the wife of the Old Duke, Paulus Atreides, and is, in fact, the mother of our beloved and current Duke, Leto.
Player:
1. I sense some bitterness.
Ilith Richese: Well, the Atreides made their loyalties known when they supported the Ixians in their financial onslaught against House Richese.
Player:
1. What happened?
Ilith Richese: There was a time when House Richese were the masters of technology in the Imperium. It was House Richese with the exclusive rights to build the mighty heighliners. That was until Earl Dominic Vernius of Ix secretly undercut our deal with the Spacing Guild and stole our contract. My Brother Ilban never quite recovered.
Player:
1. But what's your grudge against the Atreides?
Ilith Richese: They could have warned us. They should have warned us! We are family.
Player:
1. Why didn't they?
Ilith Richese: You'd have to ask the Duke. His father and Earl Dominic were thick as thieves after the war on Ecaz. Perhaps the bonds forged in war surpass those of blood; I know not. But I grow weary now, away with you.
Player: Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
3. What do you think of the Harkonnen?
Ilith Richese: I try not to. My olfactory senses are greatly heightened, and their mention conjures the noxious miasma of their Baron. A smell I liken to pumpkins and flatulence.
Player: Goodbye.
4. What do you think of the Fremen?
Ilith Richese: I try not to, to be frank. My brother, the Count Ilban Richese, was greatly interested in them on an anthropological level. Ultimately, he supported their integration into the Imperium, but alas. Perhaps the wilder things out there cannot be tamed. It seems their demise was an unfortunate but inevitable fact.
Player:
1. Did you know any Fremen personally?
Ilith Richese: That is a second question, but it pleases me to answer. Yes, I have known many and have even dined amongst the Ichwan Bedwine. My Husband counts himself amongst their number. You may have seen him. He is the High Sheriff of Arrakeen.
Player: Goodbye.
2. Goodbye.
5. What do you think of the Sardaukar deployment to Arrakis.
Ilith Richese: I believe the position held by House Richese is well known. We voted against the deployment of the Imperial House forces here. But the unfortunate destruction at Windsack gave the Emperor the leverage he required to bring them here. But other than that unfortunate business with the Fremen, their existence here has been mostly unremarkable so far.
Player: Goodbye.
6. Goodbye.
2. Can I get you something?
Ilith Richese: Would you be a dear and see if you could change my beverage order from Spice Coffee to Tea?
Player:
1. I'll see what I can do.
Ends the conversation.
2. Goodbye.
3. Goodbye.
